The problem
In South Florida, a high water table and intense rainfall push groundwater and stormwater into aging sewers. The result: lift stations running harder, treatment plants handling water that never needed treating, sanitary sewer overflows, and regulatory pressure. Most utilities know they have I&I. Few know exactly where it is or which fixes pay off first.
Our approach
- Review of existing flow monitoring, pump run-time, rainfall and treatment plant data to separate base flow, groundwater infiltration and rainfall-derived inflow
- Basin-by-basin ranking of I&I severity, mapped in GIS
- Integration of field investigation results (smoke testing, CCTV, manhole inspections) into a single spatial picture
- Data-driven, AI/ML-assisted analysis to flag anomalous basins and assets
- A prioritized rehabilitation plan with estimated capacity recovered and order-of-magnitude costs
Deliverables
- I&I assessment report, PE-sealed where required
- GIS layers and maps of basin results
- Prioritized repair and rehab list
- Recommendations for further field work
